Septentrio Resilient GNSS Receiver Redefines Port Automation with Anti-Jamming GNSS Technology

Today, with the rapid operation of the global supply chain, ports and container terminals, as logistics hubs, are facing multiple challenges such as the surging cargo throughput, the upgrading of equipment automation, and the complication of the operating environment. Traditional positioning technologies (such as DGPS or systems based on ground beacons) have been difficult to meet the strict requirements of modern ports for real-time performance, reliability and accuracy due to problems such as reliance on fixed infrastructure, high maintenance costs and insufficient flexibility. The Belgian leading positioning technology enterprise, Septentrio, with its innovative multi-frequency and multi-system GNSS/INS integrated positioning solution featuring Resilient GNSS receiver technology, in collaboration with its partner Kalmar, has provided a disruptive high-precision positioning solution for global ports, helping logistics automation enter a new era.

The Resilient GNSS board of Septentrio takes the multi-frequency and multi-satellite system GNSS receiver as the core, combined with the inertial navigation system (INS), achieving real-time positioning accuracy of sub-decimeter level (RTK level), and compensating for the positioning continuity in satellite signal-blocked areas through intelligent algorithms, completely solving the common pain points in the port environment: Multi-frequency and multi-system GNSS: Supports the world’s four major satellite systems such as GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and Beidou through its Anti-Jamming GNSS capabilities, and simultaneously receives all frequency band signals, significantly improving satellite visibility and positioning stability. In blocked areas such as the dense container yards and beneath gantry cranes in ports, it can still maintain high-precision positioning. INS inertial navigation: Through high-precision IMU sensors, the acceleration and angular velocity of the equipment are calculated in real time. When the GNSS signal is briefly interrupted (such as passing beneath bridge cranes), the FUSE+ fusion algorithm is used to achieve seamless position calculation, and the positioning output is continuous without interruption.

AIM+ Advanced Anti-interference Technology: The Septentrio receiver adopts adaptive filtering and spectrum analysis algorithms, effectively suppressing common radio interferences in the port environment (such as illegal GPS jammers). Even if there is strong electromagnetic noise within a radius of several hundred meters, the signal purity can still be guaranteed.

ASP+ Anti-deception Protection: Through hardware-level signal authentication (such as OSNMA) and software anomaly detection mechanisms, it accurately identifies forged satellite signals and prevents position offsets caused by malicious GNSS spoofing, providing a security barrier for autonomous driving and automated equipment.

Sub-decimeter-level RTK Positioning: Through real-time kinematic (RTK) technology and multi-frequency signal solution, the Septentrio mosaic-X5 achieves positioning output with a horizontal accuracy better than 5 centimeters and an elevation accuracy better than 10 centimeters, meeting the millimeter-level operation requirements for container stacking of equipment such as stackers and straddle carriers.

RAIM+ Integrity Algorithm: Based on a dynamic error evaluation model accumulated from 20 years of on-site data, it outputs real-time position credibility indicators to ensure that the system can still provide reliable positioning in complex environments (such as multipath effect areas), reducing manual error correction costs.

The positioning module of Septentrio takes modular design and industrial-grade reliability as its core competitiveness, fully adapting to the diverse equipment types and integration requirements of ports. It supports vehicle-mounted reinforced Septentrio AsteRx series receivers with IP69K protection level or embedded OEM board cards (such as the mosaic series). Without the need to transform existing facilities, it can be flexibly installed on equipment such as forklifts, straddle carriers, and reach stackers, achieving “zero infrastructure investment” for automated upgrades. The product can withstand extreme vibration, shock, and temperature and humidity changes, adapting to the 7X24-hour high-intensity operating environment of ports, with an average mean time between failures (MTBF) of over 100,000 hours. It provides standardized interface protocols such as NMEA, CAN, and Ethernet, seamlessly connecting to terminal operating systems (TOS) such as Kalmar SmartPort, and supports real-time technical support and customized development worldwide.

Septentrio redefines the standards of port automation positioning with the technical combination of “high precision + high reliability + ultimate security”. Whether in terms of Anti-Jamming GNSS capability, multi-system compatibility, or deep integration with INS, its products all demonstrate industry-leading technical strength. With the launch of new-generation modules such as mosaic-X5, Septentrio is continuously promoting the evolution of logistics automation towards a smarter and more flexible direction, creating a positioning cornerstone of “zero error, zero interruption, and zero risk” for global ports.
