Septentrio mosaic-H Heading Receivers

The Septentrio mosaic-H is a dual-antenna GNSS module that gives centimetre RTK position plus heading, pitch or roll in one 31 × 31 mm package. Eview builds it into the HB6 Pro and HB56H receivers, with 0.15° heading at 1 m baseline and RTK plus attitude output at up to 20 Hz.

How it works

What the mosaic-H does

Heading from two antennas
The module measures the carrier-phase difference between two antennas to compute true heading. It works when stationary and is not affected by magnetic disturbance. See how dual-antenna heading works.
Pitch or roll as well
Alongside heading, the second antenna gives pitch or roll: 0.25° at 1 m baseline and 0.05° at 5 m. See attitude from a moving base.
Centimetre RTK
RTK accuracy of 0.6 cm + 0.5 ppm horizontal and 1 cm + 1 ppm vertical, with initialisation in about 7 seconds. See RTK GNSS.
Dual-band, four constellations
Tracks GPS L1 and L2, GLONASS L1 and L2, BeiDou B1I, B2I and B3I, Galileo E1 and E5b, plus QZSS and SBAS. See multi-constellation GNSS.
AIM+ anti-jamming
AIM+ is on by default and handles narrowband, wideband, chirp and pulsed interference, with real-time spectrum plots. See anti-jamming GNSS.
Robust tracking
LOCK+ keeps tracking under vibration and shock, APME+ reduces multipath, IONO+ handles scintillation and RAIM+ monitors integrity. See RAIM+ explained.

Use cases

Where mosaic-H receivers are used

Vessels and USVs
True heading and pitch or roll on steel hulls, where a magnetic compass struggles. See marine GNSS.
Drones
Heading without a magnetometer for mapping and inspection drones near steel structures. See UAV and drone GNSS.
Mobile robots
Heading at start-up, before the robot moves, for outdoor navigation. See robotics GNSS.
Agricultural machinery
Heading and roll for auto-steer and implement control. See precision agriculture.
Construction and mining
Heading and attitude for machine control on excavators, dozers and haul trucks. See construction and mining.
Autonomous vehicles
Centimetre position and heading for vehicle guidance and testing. See autonomous vehicles.
Integration

How to choose and install

Pick the baseline
Heading improves with antenna spacing: 0.15° at 1 m and 0.03° at 5 m. Use the longest baseline your platform allows, with both antennas at the same height.
Use matching antennas
Use two antennas of the same model, mounted the same way, with a clear sky view. See how to choose a GNSS antenna.
Connect and correct
NMEA heading and SBF over UART for autopilots, with RTCM v3 corrections from NTRIP. See NTRIP and RTCM.
FAQ

Septentrio mosaic-H: frequently asked questions

What is the Septentrio mosaic-H?

It is a dual-antenna, dual-band GNSS module that outputs centimetre RTK position plus heading and pitch or roll. It tracks GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS and SBAS, measures 31 × 31 × 4 mm and includes AIM+, RAIM+, IONO+, APME+ and LOCK+.

How accurate is mosaic-H heading?

Heading accuracy depends on the distance between the two antennas. At a 1 m baseline it is 0.15° heading and 0.25° pitch or roll. At 5 m it improves to 0.03° heading and 0.05° pitch or roll.

Which Eview products use the mosaic-H?

The HB6 Pro, a 45 g dual-antenna receiver for drones, robots and USVs, and the HB56H, a flange-mount receiver with SD logging. Both output RTK and attitude at up to 20 Hz. Datasheets are available by email.

What is the difference between the mosaic-H and the mosaic-G5 P3H?

Both give 0.15° heading at 1 m. The mosaic-H is dual-band and supports position up to 50 Hz. The mosaic-G5 P3H is quad-band, smaller, lower power and lists Galileo OSNMA, with output up to 20 Hz. Septentrio does not list OSNMA for the mosaic-H.

What update rate does the mosaic-H support?

The module outputs position at up to 50 Hz. In Eview’s HB6 Pro and HB56H, RTK position and attitude are output at up to 20 Hz. For 100 Hz with heading, use the HB10 or HB59, based on the AsteRx-m3 Pro+.
