How Accurate Is a Septentrio GNSS Receiver? Real-World RTK Performance Data

An Eview receiver powered by a Septentrio module is rated at 0.6 cm + 0.5 ppm horizontal and 1 cm + 1 ppm vertical in RTK, with about 7 s initialisation. At 10 km from the base, the distance term adds about 5 mm horizontally. Holding that accuracy in the field depends on the antenna, the corrections, the sky view and the RF environment, which this guide explains.

Eview receivers for centimetre RTK
  • HB6: mosaic-X5 rover, 100 Hz, 45 g
  • HB62: rugged mosaic-X5 base station with NTRIP and 64 GB logging
  • HBEV11: mosaic-G5 smart antenna, base or rover
  • HB10: AsteRx-m3 Pro+, 100 Hz with dual-antenna heading

What reduces accuracy in the field

Distance to the base

The ppm term grows with baseline: 0.5 mm horizontally and 1 mm vertically per km. A local HB62 base or a nearby NTRIP station keeps it small.

Multipath

Reflections from buildings, vehicles and the ground bias range measurements. Septentrio APME+ mitigates multipath; a good antenna and mounting matter as much. See how choke ring antennas reduce multipath.

Interference

A receiver that loses lock produces no fix at all. Septentrio AIM+ on every Eview receiver mitigates narrowband, wideband, chirp and pulsed interference. See AIM+ and our JammerTest 2025 results.

Sky view and constellations

Tracking GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou and QZSS together gives more satellites and better geometry under trees and between buildings. See multi-constellation GNSS.

Ionosphere

Scintillation, common at low latitudes after sunset, can break RTK fixes. Septentrio IONO+ keeps tracking through it. See RTK after sunset.

How to get the best accuracy from an Eview receiver

  • Use a multi-band antenna matched to the job, such as the EV288 for survey and bases or the EV210 for drones.
  • Keep the base within about 10–20 km, or run your own HB62.
  • Separate the GNSS antenna from Wi-Fi, LTE and telemetry antennas, and route cables away from power wiring.
  • Enable all constellations and use a sensible elevation mask (about 10°).
  • Log raw data (SBF or RINEX) so you can check quality or post-process if needed.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is an RTK receiver with a Septentrio module?

Septentrio rates its modules at 0.6 cm + 0.5 ppm horizontal and 1 cm + 1 ppm vertical in RTK. Field results depend on baseline, antenna, multipath and sky view.

How much does distance to the base affect accuracy?

About 0.5 mm horizontally and 1 mm vertically per km, so about 5 mm and 10 mm extra at 10 km.

What accuracy do I get without a base station?

With Galileo HAS on mosaic-G5 products, decimetre-level accuracy (under 25 cm horizontal in the initial service). Centimetre accuracy needs RTK corrections.

How accurate is dual-antenna heading?

0.15° heading and 0.25° pitch or roll at a 1 m antenna spacing, improving to 0.03° and 0.05° at 5 m.

Which Eview receiver should I buy for survey work?

An HB62 base with an HB6 or HBEV11 rover is a common setup. Email sales@gnss-solutions.com for a quote.
